Knights of Columbus #2332 March 2024 Newsletter

Next Meeting: Tuesday March 12th @ The Hall – 7:00 p.m.

March Meeting: We will be discussing the new tables and chairs for the hall and reporting on shrimp dinners and St. Patrick’s Day events.

Two Shrimp Dinners Left: We still have two more shrimp dinner events this season.

Thanks to all that have helped week after week, they have been going very smooth. Please come out if you have not already and help with our biggest fundraising events of the year. Please contact Chris Meyer or Jake Rieke if you are able to help.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Thanks to Danny Nicks and all others who helped make

yesterday’s event a success. We had a great crowd at the hall and great weather to celebrate the parade.

Holy Smokes BBQ Competition: We are having this year’s BBQ competition at the park

on April 13th. It is a great family friendly event and a lot of fun for all who participate. If you are wanting to enter a team, please contact Chris Meyer or Jake Rieke. We will also have food and beverages for sale for anyone that wants to come out and socialize.

Park Maintenance Manager: As you all likely know, our park is a very unique piece of

property both in the city/county we are in, but also as an asset owned by our council. It is the only park in our area that I am aware of that is privately owned, and very few councils own real estate at all. It is a big part of our annual activities as a council and also generates a lot of revenue that we can use in our missions. Gary Vandeberghe has spent the last several years managing maintenance and bookings at the park. He is asking for a replacement to manage the maintenance side of things. He would still run the bookings if the new person is not interested in doing that. Please reach out to Gary or Chris Meyer if you are interested in this position.

Shalom House is Back Open: The Shalom House has opened its doors again and is in

need of volunteers for hosting dinners. If you are interested, please reach out to Matt Flickner at 913-940-8226.

Dues: Dues notices have been sent out for 2024, thanks to those that have paid already. To pay dues, we have added Venmo to make it even easier now. Use the Venmo app and put in @KofC-Shawnee, on the memo line just write “dues”. You can also mail to our council Financial Secretary Jason Brentano @ 6938 Oakview St. Shawnee, Ks 66216. Alternatively, go to our website www.kofc2332.org and pay via credit card, which a fee will be added. Also, if you are mailing your dues or dropping them off at hall, be sure to put your name with it. Thanks!

K of C Park & Hall Rentals: Please RSVP sooner than later to rent the Park or Hall as

many dates are starting to get booked for next year. If interested in the Park, please call Gary Vandeberghe. If interested in the renting the Hall or helping bartend at events, please contact Mary & Rich Sutton.
